Me and jessica got to work on our set design in which jessica brought 4 boards in which we stuck records and CD's we collected from home so we could hang them up on the right and the left side of the set , in the middle of the set at the back i brought some album art in which i stuck record covers i collected onto the walls and spreaded then out to create a retro look on the set. While filming i was on Camera one focusing on karina mostly capturing a mid close up of her face and body language while presenting. For the performance area me and jessica had to change the set in which we moved the sofas, table, and television to the sides and used CD's that were hanging of wires in which we made hanging behind the performer creating almost like a disco ball effect with the lights of and red light , that was very pretty and professional looking. We set the mic int he middle and also for our second act was an keyboard player we decorated the keyboard to fit in with the background spreading out the CDS all over her keyboard. Again i was on Camera one focusing on the performers facial expressions and playing around with the shots to make them more interesting and blend in nicely with the other shots.

The boards we made.

Overall the experience was Helpful and i really enjoyed and gained knowledge in job roles and how stressful an multi camera production is!.

The set layout/easter holidays

Before the aster holidays we came to a decision in what our layout for our show would be,
as you can see from the photos on the far right of the studio we will have where the artists play so we have the stage , in the middle is where the interviews will take place with the guests sitting on the right sofa and Karina our presenter sitting on the left sofa interviewing them, and on the far left we are still deciding whether to proceed with our quiz podium area in which ill keep you posted :).
taken from the left side of the stage and interview area

right side, the stage area

angle from the right side that will focus on the interviewer.
also we booked the studio out to film which will be on Tuesday 12th May with this we booked out a list of equipment
  • 4 cameras
  • 4 clip on microphones for presenter, guest and performance area
  • headsets for camera controllers
  • microphones and stands for performance area

During the easter holidays my job was to investigate materials and props for the set design in which i went round local charity shops and brought some records for 50p each!, still yet to find the white sheet for the background however going tomorrow before college to have a look again as today all the charity shops were closed for bank holiday.

Multi Camera Techniques

Yesterday our class was split into two Groups for our last Project Multi Camera Techniques. Sean was the director of our group, Jessica the producer, Karina the Presenter, Phil the visual mixer me, fran, and dan Cameras.
The name of our show is New Flavor
And our slogan is "New flavor, New style, New generation"

We first discussed what we wanted our show to be about in which we came up with a music based chat show that would involve interviewing Unsigned/Signed Artist, live performances, and a Quiz.
The order in which we wanted this to be in is..

Opening sequence
Intro ( jingle)
First interview
Quiz
Performance
Second interview ( producer)
Have people contact the shower either by phone/webcam asking questions
Show The producer music video
Then this will be repeated again the with the third guest

For the backdrop, stage area of the show Sean decided that me and jess would be in charge of that in which we will design a banner and we also came up with an idea for the backdrop using records/cds sticking them on to the backdrop which would be either white or black . the theme is red, black, and white.
Fran would Write the script for Interview questions and Karina introducing the show.

There is still more we need to think about in which we will discuss next week.

Preparing for our soap opera clip

I haven't wrote on this for a while and our group have been quite busy preparing for our 3-5 minute soap opera clip and filming, Script has been completed although when filming a few people who got to play the roles of the characters couldn't remember the lines so they had to improvise . We have used 4 story lines in which we feel as a group would appear on a soap opera. We used different locations in which we have filled location recs and permission to film in them locations . Most important the storyboard and shot list have been created as we needed this to see what we have to shoot and the different camera shots we can use to make our soap opera effective to the audience. for a bit of research i decided to look at the Hollyoaks soap opera as i feel our soap is similar to Hollyoaks as we set our soap to the young adult audience . I had a look at the different shots and typical story lines that appear in Hollyoaks to help give some idea as to how we can make our soap opera clip professional and substantive.

Development of Script

Yesterday we started to develop our script which we would involve 2-3 storylines. We wanted to show theese characters and their sort of entertainment so we decided to start the first scene on the streets meeting with each other before going to a party. we still need to finish the script and write up another storyline , however we have an idea how to end the script. Our group have completed our character profiles and know exactly who we want to act and become the characters. Today we will finish writing the script and start thinking about filming and where our first scene is going to take place.

Developing our Soap Opera

Today we got into our groups and started to develop Characters and story lines for our soap. Our soap would be based on young adults who have dropped out of University this may be because of financial problems, lack of motivation, etc. We thought of a few characters that would represent today's young adult society in which we think would fit perfectly in our soap opera. We have also started generating idea's of possible story lines that we would like to occur in the first episode of the soap .
